| Alataw Pass checkpoint's freight volumes fell 4.3 pc in first half
NORTHWEST China's Alataw Pass checkpoint bordering Kazakhstan registered a 4.3 per cent decrease year on year in import and export cargo volumes to 12.35 million tonnes in the first six months, reports Xinhua.
The import volume fell 7.1 per cent to 9.42 million tonnes while the export grew 5.8 per cent to 2.93 million tonnes. Major import cargo items include traditional bulk cargo like high value-added crude oil and iron ore. Major items of export cargo include mineral constructional materials, chemical industry products and industrial machinery.
The trade value dropped 7.6 per cent to US$7.47 billion, including import value's falling 19.4 per cent to $5.59 billion and export value's growing 64.6 per cent to $1.88 billion. The trade value contributed a customs revenue of CNY6.77 billion (US$1,06 billion) with a 9.9 per cent decrease year on year.
