TAIWAN's Wan Hai is to add a call at Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala) to its Asia-Mexico-WCSA service (WSA), which it set up in early July after having left in April the Asia-Mexico-WCSA service that it operated jointly with Evergreen Line, COSCO Container Line and PIL (WSA).

The WSA will now serve Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Puerto Quetzal, Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Manzanillo (Mexico), Kaohsiung. The duration of the rotation remains unchanged at nine weeks, and the shipping line will deploy vessels of 1,500 to 2,800 TEU.



Wan Hai's version of the WSA is currently the smallest of all the FE-WCSA services, with an average weekly capacity of 2,150 TEU. Apart from the WSA, the average size of vessels deployed on this trade currently stands at 4,000-9,600 TEU, according to Alphaliner.



The Taiwanese shipping line first entered the trade in April 2011, when it participated in the joint service that was also called WSA with three other carriers. It originally provided two of the 10 ships running the service but later pulled out one of its ships.
