AADA shipping lines to further lower bunker surcharge in mid-August

CARRIER members of the Asia Australia Discussion Agreement (AADA) have announced a further reduction in the bunker surcharge level for shipments from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to ports in Australia, effective August 18.

The bunker surcharge will be lowered to US$550 per TEU and $1,100 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers.

A joint statement said the move was in accordance with the established review procedures and reflected the recent decrease in the price of bunker fuel in Hong Kong and South Korea.

This latest decline in the bunker surcharge follows a similar revision on July 28 when the level was lowered to $575 per TEU and $1,150 per FEU.

AADA is a voluntary discussion forum of container carriers offering services from North and East Asia to ports in Australia. Its members include ANL, CSCL, Cosco, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), "K" Line, MSC, MOL, NYK Line and OOCL.
